Julia Mae's Story

Life For 20 years I was married to Melvin Copeland. I had a son and a daughter. My life was all about my family. I worked in a nursing home for 2 years. Then I worked in the Attalla Library for 2 years. One of those years as the Librarian. I loved traveling to Montgomery and getting material for the Library and learning about the new Books coming out and the help I could get for the Attalla Library. In 1988 I divorced and got together with a childhood sweetheart, also my pastor from Minor Heights Methodist Church's son. We have been married for 18 years this October. My children are close by and I have a grandson 6 years old-almost 7 and a step-granddaughter that is 15. We see each other a good bit. I love being with the grandson and watching him grow up and learn new things. My husband and I love to travel when possible and I love my crafts, I paint, do ceramics(firing and Pouring and painting). I love to sew and make quilts, draw, make jewelry, make household items such as curtains bedspreads, paint shirts and work in the yard. Got my first riding lawnmower last year and have broken it several times so far. But I love cutting our 7 acres and a little over. We have a pond and a very nice place. en her a acre or 2. She has been married and divorced. She works for the criminal court house(1st in downtown Birmingham and now here in Etowah County). My son works for a wood working company Dixie Pacific where he is a Boss. My husband works for the Downtown Birmingham Post Office. I have been very blessed with both of my children and as you say both of my husbands. Especially this one. He's a jewel. I am very happy. Workplace After graduating Minor High, I worked for Don Drennan Motors in Ensley. Then for Long Lewis Hardware. Of course when I married I had 2 children to raise so I did not work again until they were in high school. I did patient care for 2 years at the Attalla Nursing Home. Then helped keep my husbands grandmother and then went to work at the Attalla Library. In 1989 I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance for a short time, a few odd jobs and then for Brookwood Management for 2 years. After that I worked for a lady doing ceramics for almost 2 years. I went to work for Allstate Insurance and got my licenses and worked in Birmingham for a year or so and moved up here near the children about 7 or 8 years. I worked up here part time at Allstate Insurance for 2 years. Now I work around my home and enjoy my grandchildren and children and husband.
